Put a Spring/Summer into your step.

As the transitional period between winter and summer, Spring is the transitional period between your winter and summer wardrobe. Just like spring time, your wardrobe has a chance for re-birth, re-growth and renewal at this point of the year, so shake those winter blues off and dive head first into the new and improved You for S/S 2011.
As we look back on the Spring/Summer 2011 fashions shows you can see that from the trend emerging there is definitely something for everyone.
Top of the pops is the throwback to the 70’s, think Marc Jacobs and the key Hat they had on the catwalk, think flared trousers, think wedges. Suggested to be the fashion era, the 70’s were big and it seems like its coming back with a bang. Get your middle parting out and flick your curls out if you want to really work the look.
Jill Sanders picks up big marks for her use of 3 key trends without it looking OTT, maxi lengths, colour and surprisingly minimalism. With her daring colours, it makes a change from the autumnal colours that have been filling all of our wardrobes. There is no doubting that such a style is easily recreated on the high street, before you know it all the shops will be filled with block colour maxi skirts in Fuchsia and oranges and there will be a fashion scrum at the plain t-shirt racks. See you there.
And before you starting throwing you nudes to the back of the closet, re-invent them into S/S 2011 with a flirty feminine style like what Alberta Ferretti has to offer, or add pops of pastel colours which will carry you through the spring before the neon colours of summer, highlighted in Christopher Kane’s twists on the preppy twin set.
Keeping it smart is still key for S/S, keep your shirts sheer, following Thakoon, whether it is tucked in or left hanging, these are to be big news, there have been filtering in since winter. Personally I style mine with a little ribbon threaded through the collar to give a tux look.
Trousers are still big news, keep them wide-legged to follow your 70’s vibe or keep them peg legged like Gucci. Either way make sure you think outside the box with colour on your pins, think caramels instead of the obvious blacks and blues, making it more relaxed for S/S.
Despite how beautiful these designers pieces are we can but lust over these and head straight to the high street for something similar. You can see your A/W 2010 wardrobe hanging sadly on the sale racks making way for your new S/S wardrobe, the new you, and on a personal note I can’t wait, Who wouldn’t? So go into to these themes with an open mind, remember that the most fashionable item of the season is being yourself, so if don’t follow treads to the letter, and make them work for you and for your shape. Most importantly though, wear that all important smile that shows the world that you and you spring/summer wardrobe have arrived!
